Southern Alberta District Manager

Modern Beauty was established in Calgary in 1986 and is continuously expanding to accommodate our growing customer base. Today we have 25 locations in Calgary, Edmonton, Burnaby, Victoria, Red Deer, Lethbridge, and Medicine Hat, in addition to serving the Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan areas. Since the beginning, we have thrived on the success and support of our clients. Modern is one of Canada's largest beauty suppliers and is the exclusive distributor of numerous product lines recognized globally.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable District Manager to join our Modern Beauty team, supporting Southern Alberta, and share in our passion for the beauty industry. Modern distributes professional salon, barber shop and spa beauty supplies to licensed industry professionals. We carry several different color lines and aesthetic products, along with a full range of cosmetics and accessories.

As a District Manager, you would oversee multiple stores. We currently have 7 locations in Southern Alberta. Your role is critical in ensuring our long and short-term strategies in maximizing our sales and profitability. You are also responsible for giving direction, and leading and managing your district according to our values and high standards that we have set for ourselves. You are responsible for developing your stores to be successful and grow through clearly defined goals and constructive feedback.

As a District Manager, you will have to be decisive, manage with integrity, and stay calm during challenging times. You will be required to build trust with your teams, lead by example, value creative differences and handle conflict effectively.

Expectations:

  • Monitor and analyze business trends across your stores within district; develop and implement plans to maximize sales and meet or exceed goals within your district for all Key Performance Indicators including sales, payroll, expense control, and store contribution;
  • Ensure company selling and customers service standards are upheld consistently across all stores in the district through effective coaching and training of staff;
  • Recruit, hire, retain and develop a team of associates that achieves excellence in all areas of measured performance to meet or exceed company business objectives; drive business through effective scheduling and payroll management;
  • Coach store teams to develop and maintain operational best practices in the areas of stock flow, floor presentation, asset protection, facilities maintenance, and merchandise functions (price changes, transfers, damages, etc.);
  • Ensure protection of company assets by meeting or exceeding established shrinkage goals within the district;
  • Direct, train and supervise store teams in implementing and maintaining the highest level of presentation and visual standards consistent with the Modern brand;
  • Develop a hands-on supervision environment that emphasizes sales floor management, customer service, and sales generation;
  • Ensure consistent execution of pricing, merchandising, and marketing strategies in each store within the district;
  • Actively and accurately communicate selling and inventory trends within district to management; and
  • Attend and participate in sales and management training meetings and events as directed by management.

    Requirements:

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Must be flexible in terms of scheduling and availability
  • Ambitious, self-starter with passion for the beauty industry
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Minimum 5 years of Beauty Industry experience
  • Minimum 3 years of Management experience
  • Strong problem identification skills with proven record in overcoming objections
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle
  • A valid passport is required - frequent travel, which may include travel outside of Canada
